Locum Doctors
When doctors are away we employ locums to ensure that enough doctors are available. We try to use the same locums who know us and our patients. At times we undertake the training of doctors who are to become GPs and appointments may be offered with them.
Doctors in Training
Annadale is a Training practice. Fully qualified doctors who wish to pursue a career in General Practice (Registrars) spend one year at the practice. We also have Foundation Year doctors with us for four months.
Practice Manager
Mrs Annette Barnes BSc
The practice manager is responsible for the organisation and general administration of the practice.
Our Nursing Team
Our highly qualified nurses deal with a range of conditions and health concerns. They examine patients, make a diagnosis and plan care, including organising prescriptions for certain products. They are experts in many areas of disease management such as diabetes, asthma and hypertension.
Sister Lyn Orr RN Asthma Dip
Lyn is in charge of the Nursing Team. She is our minor illness specialist, practice nurse and works alongside the doctors in the practice to provide a medical service including holding surgeries. Lyn also provides care for patients with chronic conditions, such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke and ear problems.
Sister Barbara Johnson
She provides many services including immunisations for foreign travel, cervical smears, blood pressure assessments, smoking and dieting advice, contraception and general nursing care.
Health Care Assistant
Mrs Sandra Lewis is an important member of the practice team, who works under the supervision of a qualified nurse. She can take blood pressures, ECGS, spirometry readings, help with smoking cessation, organise 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure readings, test urine and do simple dressings.
Health Visitor
Our health visitor promotes the health and development of the under fives in their family setting. She visits all newborn babies between 10 and 14 days after delivery and is responsible for immunisations, developmental checks and general wellbeing as the baby grows. She is able to offer guidance in all aspects of child development including feeding, coping with crying babies, postnatal depression and health education advice. The health visitor organises postnatal and mother and toddler support groups and runs a number of courses to deal with behavioural problems, positive parenting, and baby massaging.
If you have children under five, the health visitor will make contact with you when you register.
To contact the health visitor call 01707 645276.
Midwife
There is a weekly antenatal clinic at the surgery run by midwives from Barnet General Hospital. After an initial consultation with the GP, all expectant mothers are invited to see the midwife at the surgery on a regular basis.
Reception Staff
We have five receptionists here to help you. They answer the phone and deal with enquiries. Their job is very demanding so please be patient. We feel it is important you know to whom you are speaking, so our practice staff wear a name badge and identify themselves on the telephone.
Clerical Staff
Supporting the team are three administrative clerks and one secretary. All members of the team are computer literate and abide by the rules of confidentiality, which underlies all the work undertaken at the surgery in connection with patients.
